\nLiving in New Mexico reveals the beauty of nature in a much
\ndifferent way that I had ever experienced living elsewhere.  One very special experience is called The
\nNight Sky.  Looking up to the dark,
\nnight sky reveals an unbelievable cascade of stars, so many, that it appears as
\nif thousands (no, hundreds of thousands) grains of white sand have been thrown
\nup into the sky.  This is possible due
\nto the altitude, lack of pollution and legislation passed by New Mexico in 1978
\ncalled the Night Sky Protection Act. 
\nThe purpose of this act \u201cis to regulate outdoor night lighting fixtures
\nto preserve and enhance the state\u2019s dark sky\u2026\u201d 
\nWithout the distraction of glaring spotlights and neon signs (even the
\ntype of lighting for street lights is regulated) the night sky becomes a small
\nglimpse of the universe, of the cosmos. While beautiful, for me, it is also
\nfrightening.  I simply cannot wrap my
\nmind around the concept of infinity, of the concept of never-ending space.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nI have a friend who not only is fascinated with these
\nconcepts, she embraces them into one of the most incredible forms of textile
\nart.  <\/div>\n

\nAccording her artist\u2019s statement, Debbe states \u201cMy
\ntapestries and the universe have become one and the same for me. Petit point is
\nmy art and space is my muse.  Each work
\nis preceded by immersion in the most current images returned to earth by
\norbiting telescopes.  After being drawn
\nto a particular subject I find as much information on the topic as possible before I
\nattempt to capture its grandeur\u2026(My process) begins with my research and ends
\nwhen I have interpreted the image and its science.\u201d<\/div>\n
