The main centers were<br \/>\nMonaghan and Cloves in the north and Cork in the south.<\/div>\n<div>\n<o:p><\/o:p><\/div>\n<div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n&nbsp;Four types of Irish lace are generally recognized:<\/div>\n<div>\n&nbsp;Limerick<br \/>\n\u2013 tamboured embroidery made on a machine-made bobbin net.<\/div>\n<div>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both; Shamrocks, bunches of<br \/>\ngrapes, daisies and roses were the most common motifs.&nbsp; Raised effects were &nbsp;created by using several thicknesses of<br \/>\nthreads &#8211; for instance, thread was wound around a rod or pencil to form a<br \/>\nring.&nbsp; The ring was then worked over<br \/>\nwith a double or triple crochet or buttonhole stitch.&nbsp; The overall design was traced on a linen ground and when the<br \/>\nmotifs were finished they were tacked onto the pattern and filling crochet<br \/>\nstitches were worked around the motifs.&nbsp;<br \/>\nThis techniques was adapted to imitate continental needle-made laces<br \/>\nsuch as Venetian Rose Point.<\/div>\n<div>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both;
