\nI have just returned from Los Angeles
\nhaving attended 5 days of the 14th<\/sup> symposium of the Textile Society
\nof America.<\/span><\/span><\/h1>\n

<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n<\/a><\/div>\n
\n
<\/span><\/div>\n
\n
<\/span><\/div>\n
\n
<\/span><\/div>\n
\n
<\/span><\/div>\n
\nThe Textile Society was established in 1987 to provide \u201can
\ninternational forum for the exchange and dissemination of textile knowledge
\nfrom artistic, cultural, economic, historic, political, social and technical
\nperspectives\u201d. With over 700 members from countries all over the world, the
\nsociety includes museum curators and conservators, textile designers and
\nmakers, historians and anyone interested in textiles.  <\/span><\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nThe biennial symposium features juried papers, day and
\nweeklong programs and an opportunity to confer with other members and share
\nknowledge and experiences.<\/span><\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nThis years proceedings were held in Los Angeles at the
\ncampus of UCLA and included many lectures, museum and collection visits and
\nadditional pre and post-symposium programs. 
\nThe theme for this year was New Directions: Examining the Past ,
\nCreating the Future and featured lectures ranging from pre-historic fibers to
\nsustainability of resources in future textile production.<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/div>\n
\n
<\/span><\/div>\n
\n
<\/span><\/div>\n
\n<\/a><\/div>\n
\n
<\/span><\/div>\n
\n
<\/span><\/div>\n
\n
<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/div>\n
