\nMilan Fashion Week<\/div>\n

\nWe recently returned from a short trip to Italy, beginning
\nwith Milan during Fashion Week.  Milan,
\ncapital of the Lombardy region in northern Italy which stretches from the Alps
\nbordering Switzerland to the flat plain of the river Po, is both the financial
\nand fashion capital of Italy.  A fashion
\ndesign rival of both New York and Paris, Milan hosted more than 60 fashion
\nshows and more than 80 presentations with 
\n800 showrooms throughout the city. 
\n\u201cThis is an Italian city of progress and change\u201d stated \u201cKing\u201d Giorgio
\nArmani. <\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nBefore a glimpse at the fashions for spring, 2028, let\u2019s
\ntake a walk through the so-called \u201cfashion quadrilateral\u201d ( Via Montenapoleone,
\nVia della Spiga, Via Manzoni. And Via sant\u2019Andrea). Flagship stores from Armani
\nto Versache  along with many independent
\nboutiques offer a window-shoppers dream. 
\nThe one word I thought of as I viewed the fall and winter displays was
\n\u201ctexture\u201d.  Designs were often of
\nseveral fabrics, heavily textured (some bulky).  The addition of animal furs ( and hair) both faux and real  added additional layers which, at times
\nappeared to be in their natural state. 
\nLong rovings of slightly curly fleece-like material hung from the waist
\nor hem of garments.  (I called this the
\n\u201cwet English sheep-dog look\u201d)  Other
\ntrimmings were fine textured, obviously synthetic and highly colored, Even
\nhandbags could not escape this furry look.<\/div>\n

\nBut you did not have to spend your Euros in the up-scale
\nestablishments, as the market stalls offered much cheaper versions.<\/div>\n

\nThe promise of Spring was similar but slightly more
\nrefined.  Plaids and checks from head to
\ntoe and multicolored jackets worn with cowboy boots.  But there was also shimmer and glitz with Armani\u2019s shiny black
\nsuits and iridescent fabrics from Gucci. 
\nBut fear not, fringe was still shown , now floating on the hemline of
\nlong dresses.<\/div>\n

\nThough those of us who do not walk the red carpets , do not
\ngreet heads of state, nor jet around the world with valets to care for their
\nwardrobes can still appreciate these outpourings of fashion creativity.  The \u201ctrickle-down effect\u201d soon reaches the
